The Season 2 finalist, who was born in Brazil, has been chosen to record Coca-Cola's 2014 FIFA World Cup Campaign Anthem, "The World Is Ours."
The song is the anthem for the World Cup Trophy Tour, similar to the Olympic torch run, where the solid gold trophy will travel through 88 countries over 267 days. The tour kicked off on Sept. 12 in Rio; this month the Cup will hit Tahiti, Fiji, and Costa Rica, among other countries.

At the previous World Cup, in South Africa, K'Naan was chosen to sing Coca-Cola's 2010 FIFA World Cup Campaign song, "Waving Flag." That year Shakira had a major hit with the FIFA World Cup Anthem "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" -- so David has some big shoes to fill!

The Brazilian-born singer, who was given up for adoption and reunited with his birth mother because of The X-Factor, collaborated with a Brazilian percussion band and Rock Mafia on the song.
