TV Ratings: ABC Comedies Dip on Friday, ‘Shark Tank’ Wins in Return

With the new fall season getting into full swing, ABC was the first to fully program Fridays -- winning both adults 18-49 (1.5 adult) and total viewers (5.97 million) in Fast National returns.

Early launches saw drops for comedies, with Last Man Standing (1.5 adults) shedding 25 percent from last year's late Friday premiere (2.0 adults on Nov. 2) and The Neighbors (1.2 adults) tumbling 1.1 points from Malibu Country's premiere in the same slot last year. (The Neighbors pulled a 2.0 adults rating in its Wednesday time slot premiere last year.) Shark Tank fared better, winning the night with a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49, down just one-tenth from last season, and 20/20 (1.4 adults) was up three-tenths of a point.

Encores averaged a 0.8 rating with adults 18-49 and 5.3 million viewers on CBS, while repeats brought Fox a 0.9 adults rating and 3.2 million viewers. Fox's lineup included its second repeat of Sleepy Hollow, which has seen its strong premiere rise to a 5.0 adults rating in Live+Three returns -- a 43 percent jump.

The CW had new episodes of Perfect Score (0.2 adults) and America's Next Top Model (0.4 adults), both down one-tenth of a point. The network pulled a 0.3 adults rating and 911,000 viewers.
