Disney XD Sets Debut for ‘Mighty Med’ Comedy Series (Exclusive)

Disney XD is combining genres with its latest comedy series, Mighty Med.

The kids-targeted cable network is rolling out the new live-action effort, starring Good Luck Charlie's Bradley Steven Perry and A.N.T. Farm's Jake Short, with a one-hour debut on Monday, Oct. 7 from 8:30-9:30 p.m. ET/PT, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Mighty Med follows two teenage best friends Kaz (Perry) and Oliver (Short) who land after-school jobs at Mighty Med, a secret hospital for superheroes, sci-fi and fantasy characters. Without powers of their own, the duo — known as "Normos" — are forced to navigate their way through the two colliding worlds with the help of superhero Skylar Storm (Paris Berelc) and the chief of staff's nephew Alan Diaz (Devan Leos).

The early October premiere will mark the culmination of a three-week buildup that kicks off Sunday, Sept. 15 when Disney XD premieres a tie-in game, "Heroic Healers." Then on Monday, Sept. 23 the premiere episode will be available on iTunes as a free download before hitting VOD on Monday, Sept. 30.

Co-starring in the series from Jim Bernstein (Phineas and Ferb) and Andy Schwartz (Scrubs) are twins Jason and Randy Sklar and Carlos Lacamara. Executive producers are Stephen Engel and Bernstein, with Schwartz as supervising producer.
