Keith Urban
American Idol’s past and present collided at the Nashville, TN, nightclub Tootsie’s when current judge Keith Urban was joined by Steven Tyler on stage for a jam.
Urban was in town playing several gigs promoting his new CD, Fuse, set for release on Sept. 10, when he was surprised Friday night by the Season 10 and 11 alum at the club located on Nashville’s Lower Broadway.

Urban introduced Tyler as a "bad-assed blues legend singer," before he stormed the stage and proclaimed Urban as his "favorite Idol."
Tyler was in a playful mood as the two did a freewheeling version of Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way" (sounding a cross between a scatting and ZZ Top's La Grange") and the former Idol judge kissed Urban on the cheek with a simple instruction to deliver the message to Jennifer Lopez, who is returning to the panel this season.
“Give J. Lo this for me,” he said.
Tyler has been in Nashville doing some songwriting and popping up onstage at local venues, including a set on Sept. 3 in Music City’s Bluebird Café, where he performed after an in-the-round session featuring songwriters Mallary Hope Phil Barton, Lindsey Lee and Marti Frederiksen (an Aerosmith collaborator) for a performance of “Jaded” and “Dream On."
It’s been a wild week in Nashville, as musician BeBe Buell, former Tyler paramour and mother of daughter, Liv Tyler, reported on her Facebook page Friday night: “Nashville has been on fire all week! Tonight Keith Urban breezed through town popping into four clubs to do 25 min. sets! Steven Tyler joined him onstage at the legendary Tootsie's... looks like Tyler really likes Nashville and Nashville likes him, too!”
