CBS News is set to air a Charlie Rose interview of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad on its morning and evening newscasts on Monday.
CBS has billed the interview as the first television questioning that Assad has been given in two years. Rose interviewed Assad in Damascus at the presidential palace on Sunday, the network said in a statement. Clips from the interview will first appear on CBS' morning show on Monday.
Meanwhile, President Obama will tape six interviews on Monday with CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, CNN and Fox News.
He is expected to make the case for why Congress should authorize the use of military force against Syria after the Assad regime's alleged chemical weapons use on its civilians.
