Veteran ABC News correspondent Jim Sciutto has joined CNN as chief national security correspondent, Sam Feist, senior vp and CNN's Washington bureau chief announced Tuesday. Sciutto will be based in Washington, D.C., and will cover foreign policy, terrorism and the military and intelligence communities.
"Jim’s vast experience reporting firsthand from around the globe will provide viewers with rich perspective on important stories domestically and abroad,” said Feist in a statement. “I am delighted to welcome him to our team.”

Sciutto was based in London and then Washington for ABC News. Earlier this year, ABC News moved Terry Moran -- a longtime Nightline correspondent and legal expert -- to the London bureau as chief foreign affairs correspondent while Dan Abrams was named chief legal anchor.
Sciutto left ABC News in 2011 to relocate to China and become chief of staff and senior advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to China, Gary Locke. At CNN, he joins several former ABC News colleagues including Jake Tapper, Chris Cuomo and John Berman. At ABC News, Sciutto reported from myriad datelines including Iran during the 2009 elections.
