‘The Killing’s’ Elias Koteas Boards ‘Chicago PD’ (Exclusive)

NBC's Chicago PD continues to expand its ranks.

The midseason drama has tapped The Killing alum Elias Koteas to join the Chicago Fire spinoff as a series regular, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The spinoff, which aired as a back-door pilot during the freshman run of Chicago Fire, centers on the ongoings at the Chicago Police Department.

Koteas will play Alvin Olinsky, a long-term undercover detective in the Intelligence Unit. The character was in uniform with Voight (Jason Beghe) and together they share a secret over a fellow cop's death. 

He joins other new additions including One Tree Hill's Sophia Bush and Patrick Flueger in the midseason drama from executive producers Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, Danielle Gelber, Peter Jankowski, Michael Brandt, Derek Haas and Mark Tinker.Jon SedaandJesse Lee Soffer also star in the spinoffsfrom Wolf Films and Universal Television.

In addition to AMC's The Killing, Koteas' credits also include the Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Shutter Island and The Thin Red Line. He's repped by UTA, Kipperman Management and Katz Golden.
