Ben Affleck was cast as the new Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel on Thursday, and so far, the Internet’s reaction has been far from positive.
Fans have complained on Twitter that Affleck is simply not right for the role, and the hashtag “#BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck” has been a trending topic since the news came out.
However, The Avengers director Joss Whedon thinks the actor has what it takes to play the Caped Crusader alongside Henry Cavill as Superman.
Whedon tweeted on Friday, “Affleck’ll crush it. He’s got the chops, he’s got the chin — just needs the material. Affleck & Cavill toe to toe — I’m in.”
