FX is inching closer to finding Bigfoot.
The cable network has picked up to pilot Bigfoot, an animated comedy based on the faux autobiography books by Graham Roumieu, The Hollywood Reporter has learned
From FX Productions, Bigfoot is an adaption of Roumieu's comedic works In Me Own Words, Me Write Book and I Not Dead. The series follows Bigfoot, everyone's favorite crypto-zoological hominid as a modern-day everyman who struggles with life's philosophical quandaries as well as his own animalistic tendencies..
American Dad writer/supervising producer Matt McKenna will write and executive produce the FX Productions project. Point Grey Pictures' Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg also are on board to serve as EPs along with Roumieu, Jimmy Miller Co.'s Jimmy Miller, Floyd County Productions' Adam Reed and Matt Thompson as well as Mosaic's Sam Hansen.
"This will be the greatest show about an animated Bigfoot ever made," Rogen said of the project. (See the concept art from Floyd County Productions at left and below.)
For FX, the pilot marks the latest animated entry as the cabler ramps up production ahead of the September launch of younger-skewing network FXX. Other animated fare includes Archer and Unsupervised -- which also hail from Floyd County Productions -- as well as Danny McBride's Chozen, which was the first original series picked up specifically for FXX in June.
Bigfoot marks the latest pilot in the works at FX. It joins fellow half-hours including Billy Crystal-Josh Gad starrer The Comedians, Tracy Morgan's Death Pact, an untitled Nat Faxon vehicle from Andrew Gurland, Lorne Michaels' The Last Girlfriend on Earth and Stephen Falk's (Orange Is the New Black) You're the Worst.
