The Big C showrunner Jenny Bicks has found her follow-up project.
Following a multiple-network bidding war, NBC has hooked a mermaid comedy from the executive producer of The Big C, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The untitled comedy revolves around a beached mermaid in search of adventure who winds up working in a bar/attraction in Miami with an eclectic group of people as lost as she is. NBC landed the project with a put-pilot commitment. Bicks will write and executive produce the single-camera comedy, which hails from 20th Century Fox Television, where she is under an exclusive two-year overall deal to develop both comedy and drama projects.
"I am thrilled to be working with NBC and p.s., mermaids totally exist!" Bicks told THR.
For Bicks, the comedy comes nearly two weeks after Bravo opted to pass on her second attempt to bring a Heathers follow-up to the small screen.

In addition to The Big C, which recently ended its four-season run as a miniseries on Showtime, Bicks created ABC's Men in Trees and worked on all six seasons of HBO's Sex and the City, during which she was among the team to win multiple Golden Globes and Emmys.
For its part, the final run of The Big C earned Emmy nominations for lead Laura Linney and supporting actor John Benjamin Hickey.
