The Cowboys and the Dolphins
The ramp up for football season started on Sunday night with NBC's first preseason game of the year. Fast National returns give the Cowboys victory over the Dolphins in the NFL Hall of Fame game an average 3.3 rating among adults 18-49. That's up three-tenths of a point, 10 percent, from the initial returns from last year's first preseason game on the NFL Network. Though NBC's final scores are subject to time zone adjustments later, the network averaged a 2.9 adults rating and 7.96 million viewers for the night.

CBS nabbed the race for second, averaging a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.6 million viewers. Both Big Brother (2.2 adults) and Unforgettable (1.2 adults) were down from last week by a tenth of a point, the latter hitting a series low. The network is down 3.2 million viewers due to a carriage dispute with Time Warner Cable, prompting an estimated loss of 1 percent.
Animation encores averaged a 1.2 rating with adults 18-49 and 2.5 million viewers on Fox.
Secret Millionaire (1.2 adults) returned to ABC, down three-tenths of a point from last summer's opener. Whodunnit (1.0 adults) was also down, losing a tenth of a point, giving the network a nightly average of a 0.9 rating with adults 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers.
Univision pulled a 0.8 adults rating and 1.98 million viewers for the night, while Telemundo averaged a 0.6 in the demo and 1.5 million viewers.
