CBS is sticking with Jim Gaffigan.
The network is redeveloping his comedy pilot for the 2014-15 broadcast season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The project marks CBS' second pilot order for the new development season, joining The McCarthys, which is also being redeveloped.
The single-camera semi-autobiographical comedy from Sony Pictures Television stars Gaffigan as a happily married and harried New York father of five -- as he is in real life.
Gaffigan will rewrite the pilot with Fedora Entertainment's Peter Tolan. Fedora's Michael Wimer and Gaffigan's manager at Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Alex Murray, will executive produce.

The original pilot co-starred Oscar winner Mira Sorvino as Gaffigan's wife, with Christian Barillas and Tongayi Chirisa co-starring. It's unclear which, if any, cast members will remain with the comedy. For her part, Sorvino in July booked a multiple-episode arc on USA Network's Psych.
The new pilot order keeps Gaffigan in the CBS fold. The actor/comedian previously starred on the network's short-lived New York comedy in 2001. The comedy landed a put-pilot commitment at CBS in September and pilot order in January. Gaffigan's most recent comedy album, Mr. Universe, picked up a Grammy nomination. His book, Dad Is Fat, was released in May.
CBS ordered six new comedies in May as it looks to expand its foothold on Thursdays to a two-hour block and prepare to rebuild Mondays after the final season of How I Met Your Mother. That's up from the two half-hours the net ordered in 2012. (Partners was canceled shortly after launching and Friend Me never aired.)
Gaffigan is repped by CAA, Brillstein and Schreck Rose; Tolan is with CAA and Schreck Rose.
