Earlier his month, Jay-Z spent six hours performing his track “Picasso Baby” over and over again at the Pace Gallery in New York.
Now that experiment will be shown on HBO as the special “Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film.”
“Rap is thinking out loud, and you’re putting your fears and your vulnerabilities and your insecurities to music,” explains Jay-Z says in a preview. “Concerts are pretty much performance art, and a smaller venue is a bit more intimate, so you feel the energy of the people.”
