Natalie Portman is set to make her feature film directorial debut.
The Oscar winner will helm the big screen adaptation of Israeli author Amos Oz’s autobiography, “A Tale of Love and Darkness.”
In addition to directing, Portman will write the screenplay, and play the role of Oz’s mother in the film.
She plans to cast local Israeli actors for the other characters this fall, and begin shooting in early 2014.
It has yet to be decided whether the film will be shot in English or Hebrew.
Portman previously wrote and directed the short Eve, and a segment in 2009’s New York, I Love You.
