The investigation into Cory Monteith’s sudden death has been closed “from the police perspective.”

Vancouver police held a press conference Tuesday afternoon, saying, “The results released by the coroners service support the findings of our investigators and their beliefs upon initial examination that there was no foul play and that this was an overdose and a tragic accident.”

As Gossip Cop reported hours earlier, the British Columbia Coroner Service determined Monteith died from “a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol.”

The “Glee” star was found dead and alone in his Fairmount Pacific Rim hotel room on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters, Vancouver police constable Brian Montague deemed the cause of death an “accidental overdose,” and said, “It was pretty clear that there was no struggle, no evidence of foul play, and that there was evidence in the room that was consistent with drug use.”

It was not disclosed what was specifically found in the 21st-floor room, and the cops will not seek whoever supplied Monteith with the heroin.

The police interviewed three unidentified people — two women and one man, described as “very cooperative” — who spent time with Monteith at bars prior to his death, but “unless new information comes to light, we won’t be proceeding further,” said Montague.

Montague said their “belief is that when he took the heroin he was alone,” and that the actor — who returned to his room around 2:15 a.m. Saturday — had been dead for several hours prior to being found.

“There’s no law in Canada where we can request charges against someone who’s provided drugs to an individual,” explained Montague. “There’s an inherent risk when you’re using illicit drugs and there’s nothing in this situation that we can see that would cause us to pursue the investigation further.”
