Elton John told The Sun on Wednesday that his undiagnosed appendicitis could have cost him his life.
“I was a ticking time bomb,” he said, noting, “I could have died at any time.”
He added, “I feel so lucky and grateful to be alive.”
John had previously performed several shows, all while in pain, thinking his discomfort was caused by food poisoning.
The legendary rocker is slated to undergo surgery in the next few weeks, and has cancelled his remaining summer concerts.
