Kevin Clash, the longtime Elmo puppeteer who resigned from “Sesame Street” in 2012 amid allegations that he had been involved in sexual activities with three underage men, is now off the hook.

On Monday, a federal judge said in a ruling that the three individuals waited too long to take legal action, and that the statute of limitations — three years after they each turned 18 year-old — had passed.

Clash had maintained that the sexual activities were consensual, and that the men weren’t minors when the relationships began.

At the time of his resignation, Sesame Workshop said in a statement: “The controversy surrounding Kevin’s personal life has become a distraction that none of us want, and he has concluded that he can no longer be effective in his job and has resigned from Sesame Street.”

What do you think about the judge tossing out the lawsuits?
