FX Developing Limited ‘Last of the Mohicans’ Series (Exclusive)

FX is adding another high-profile limited series to its development coffers.

The cable network is developing Mohicans, an adaptation of James Fenimore Cooper's classic The Last of the Mohicans, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

STORY: The 'Bible' Effect and the Resurrection of the TV Miniseries

Chris Crowe, who co-wrote the screenplay for the 1992 Daniel Day-Lewis feature, is on board to pen the script alongside Kerry McCluggage (Miami Vice) and Steve Beck, who are co-developing the project. Crowe and McCluggage will executive produce, while Beck is on board as a producer.

The FX project is described as the story of America's beginnings as a nation as told through the eyes of Cooper's classic characters from the historical novel The Last of the Mohicans. The novel was first published in 1826. The feature film grossed an estimated $75 million domestically.
