During the episode (which will be directed by Marshall's son, Scott), he will play the TV father to Baio's David on the show within the show. The character is a former wild ladies man in his 70s who wants to settle down, get married and have a kid, but he is beginning to doubt the decision.
Marshall helped launch Baio's career, casting him as Fonzie's (Henry Winkler) younger cousin, Chachi Arcola, on Happy Days. He went on to win a Young Artist Award for his comedic turn in the long-running series.
Marshall will film the See Dad Run episode this week on Paramount's Stage 19 -- the same soundstage where Happy Days was filmed during its 1974-1984 run.
STORY: Iconic Producer Garry Marshall Sells Comedy to Fox
The iconic producer behind series including Mork & Mindy, Laverne & Shirley and countless features most recently teamed with his son, Scott Marshall, to develop a comedy, Golden Guys, for Fox. From 20th Television and Prospect Park, the multicamera family comedy revolves around a down-on-his-luck guy who must move back in with his family after he loses his fortune in a scam.
Since starting out in TV, Marshall most recently has focused on features, directing Pretty Woman, Beaches and several other films. As an actor, Marshall appeared in two episodes of FX's Louie last season. He also played Georgia Peaches owner Walter Harvey in 1992's A League of Their Own, among other notable roles.
Nick renewed See Dad Run for a second season in December. A return date has not yet been announced, but Marshall's episode is expected to air in the fall.
