‘Anger Management’ Casting for ‘Neurotic’ Actress to Join Charlie Sheen’s Sex Study

That didn't take long.

FX's Anger Management on Friday released a casting breakdown as the series begins its search for a replacement for Selma Blair, who exited the series Tuesday.

The new role calls for a "gorgeous, sexy" Latina or Caucasian actress in her 30s or 40s to play an as yet unnamed by the book psychiatrist who joins star Charlie Sheen's character in co-authoring the sex study research he and Kate (Blair) were working on before she left.

Here's more from the official description: "If Charlie and Kate were like Sam and Diane on Cheers, then you are Rebecca. Tough, career driven, neurotic and you wear your heart on your sleeve. And you hate yourself for eventually becoming attracted to Charlie.

The role is described as a potential new series regular who will likely start with a multiple-episode guest starring arc.

Sources tell THR that Sheen dismissed Blair from the series with a strongly worded text message in which he called the actress a "c---." The feud between Sheen and Blair started when she questioned his work ethic on the series. The show films two episodes per week and often finds Sheen with more than 40 pages of dialogue per script.

STORY: It's Official: Selma Blair Not Returning to 'Anger Management'

For FX, the timing of the fallout between the actors -- Sheen reportedly had gone to bat to secure Blair the job -- comes after Anger Management recently took a month-long hiatus to undergo some creative retooling as the writers contemplated changes to the show. Ratings for the series, Sheen's follow-up to CBS' Two and a Half Men -- hadn't been what FX had liked, with the Sheen vehicle seeing a ratings uptick with original episodes airing on corporate sibling Fox.

Filming on the series is roughly a third of the way through its 90-episode second season order. Sources tell THR that Blair's exit will not impact production of the series, which will continue on as planned. Anger Management still has 60 episodes left to produce.

EW first reported the casting breakdown.
