Stephen Colbert began “The Colbert Report” on Wednesday with a moving tribute to his late mother, Lorna Tuck Colbert, who passed away last Monday.

He said, “If you watch this show, and you like this show, it’s because of everybody who works here and I’m lucky to be one of them,” adding that “when you watch the show, if you also like me, that’s because of my mom.”
The comedian went on to share stories of his mother’s life, mentioning that they shared a similar sense of humor, and that she used to “do stage falls by pretending to faint on the kitchen floor.”
Colbert also noted his mother considered him and his siblings to be “the light of her life.”
