After a car crash left him in a coma, his famous characters helped pull him out of it.
On January 24, 1961, Mel Blanc, the voice of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Yosemite Sam, Woody Woodpecker, Barney Rubble, and about 1,500 other characters, was involved in a near-fatal car accident.
Hit head-on, Blanc suffered a triple skull fracture that left him in a coma for two weeks. Unresponsive his neurosurgeon attempted to pull him out of it by addressing him as Bugs Bunny, amazingly Blanc responded "What's up, Doc?," in character.
