TV Ratings: ‘Voice’ Finale Steady With Last Spring Against Surging NBA Finals

ABC's coverage of the NBA Finals hit a high note on Tuesday, with the Spurs-Heat showdown poised to be the second-highest-rated game 6 ever for the network. Nielsen overnights give the game an easy series best, a 14.7 rating, thanks in no small part to the overtime -- when it peaked with 19.8 rating.

Other early returns on ABC give a 2.6 adults rating to Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night and a 3.8 adults rating to the pre-game show. The actual game is still tracking short of the last game 6, however, with a 6.5 adults rating. The ABC best for a game 6 of the NBA Finals was on a Sunday in 2011, averaging a 9.7 rating with adults 18-49 in finals after a 8.6 rating in preliminaries.

Elsewhere, NBC saw the season finale of The Voice earn a preliminary 4.3 rating with adults 18-49 and 15.3 million viewers. Though the two-hour ender was down a half of a point from last season's December finale, it was just a tenth of a point off from last May's finals and up by 3.4 million viewers. The series had also yet to go up against a major sporting event in the finale, like it did last night in many markets. America's Got Talent (2.9 adults), down a tenth of a point from last week's season premiere, started the night for NBC. The network had an average 3.8 rating with adults 18-49 and 14 million viewers.

So You Think You Can Dance dipped against the stiff competition, falling three tenths of a point to a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49 and 3.9 million viewers.
