BBC America to Explore Sci-Fi With 4-Part Docuseries

BBC America, home to Orphan Black, Doctor Who and more, will continue on its sci-fi bender with a four-part docuseries exploring the genre.

The cable network and BBC Two on Wednesday announced My God, It's Full of Stars: A Journey to the Edge of Science Fiction (working title), a four-part entry that explores popular themes in the genre. Each hour of the co-production will feature specific themes: time travel, the exploration of space, aliens as well as robots and artificial intelligence,

To tell the story, BBC will look to the men and women who created some of the most beloved properties in sci-fi including filmmakers, writers, actors, graphic artists and more who have explored the future, the past, parallel universes and more who will report on their experiences.

STORY: BBC America Renews 'Orphan Black'

"This is the story of science fiction told by the men and women who fell to Earth," BBC America noted in a press release announcing the news. "From HG Wells' War of the Worlds to The Terminator, from Doctor Who to Star Wars this series will guide viewers through a rich, thought-provoking and endlessly exciting genre."

Michael Poole will exec produce for the BBC, with Richard De Croce and Rachel Smith overseeing for BBC America.

The series comes as BBC America has found success with its Supernatural Saturday-themed programming block that includes Doctor WhoOrphan Black -- starring Critics' Choice best actress Tatiana Maslany -- and Chris Hardwick's The Nerdist.
