Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart “didn’t celebrate the actor’s 27th birthday together, they spent it in a heart-wrenching fight!” blares a report from X17Online.
The paparazzi site, which once embarrassingly tried to link Pattinson to a designer who has a serious boyfriend, says its photographers “spotted Kristen at a friend’s house Monday afternoon and the actress was in break-down mode over what appeared to be a possible break-up with Rob.”
How do the paps know what Stewart was allegedly upset about? Are they moonlighting as psychics now?
The blog’s “source” — meaning its paparazzo who followed Stewart’s car — reveals, “Kristen was pacing back-and-forth in her friend’s apartment, smoking. She looked really upset, talking on the phone for almost an hour — I’m guessing she was talking to Rob.”
Again: How can this photographer say to whom Stewart was talking on the phone? Gossip Cop guesses the paparazzo has no idea — and just constructed the Pattinson scenario to make these blurry shots which show nothing into some sort of dramatic lover’s quarrel.
Anyway, the site’s goes on to add that after Stewart’s phone call, on which the paparazzo unsuccessfully tried to eavesdrop, the actress “drove to another friend’s house and stayed outside in the street, in her friend’s car, talking for almost 45 minutes.”
X17, which in the past has BOGUSLY claimed Stewart was partying with Lindsay Lohan and inaccurately reported that she bought a $4.8 million Malibu beach house, then puts in its two cents, writing, “Seems like a tense time for the pair… Could there be trouble in Twilight paradise?”
And of course HollywoodLife hungrily picked up the site’s story and hit the ground running, spinning it into a piece about Pattinson and Stewart “breaking up.”
Gossip Cop, on the other hand, took a few days to investigate the report, and we’d like to point out a few gaping holes in the site’s story.
X17 tailed Stewart for a couple of hours on Monday afternoon, and spied on her while she was talking on the phone and driving with a friend.
The blog has absolutely NO IDEA to whom the star was talking, nor does it have A SINGLE NOTION of how Stewart spent her evening and the time prior to the small window the paparazzi were following her.
Its photos show Stewart in a car and in a friend’s house — and nothing more.
We checked in with a number of our sources, and we’ve found nothing to indicate that Stewart and Pattinson have split.
