‘Elementary’ Heading Overseas for Season 2 Premiere

CBS' Elementary is heading to the U.K.

The one-hour drama, toplined by Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu as Sherlock Holmes and Joan Watson, will go across the Atlantic to film in London for the second season premiere, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

This would mark the first time Elementary will shoot outside of New York, where the show is based and set.

In the season-two premiere, Sherlock Holmes is called to London to revisit an old case and is forced to face his past. Meanwhile, Watson learns more about Holmes' mysterious life and the company he kept prior to leaving for New York.

"We couldn't be more excited to have this opportunity to see Sherlock's old stomping grounds and take a closer look at a life that, until now, we've only been able to glimpse through the lens of his recovery,” said creator Robert Doherty. “By meeting old friends and revisiting prior cases, Watson will gain even more insight into Holmes. She’ll have to keep up with a Sherlock who is both more comfortable in his surroundings and even bolder in testing the limits of those around him."

Elementary has averaged nearly 13 million viewers weekly and posts a 3.0 rating among the ad-coveted adults 18-49 demo and a 4.1 among adults 25-54. Internationally, the show is No. 1 on U.K.'s Sky Living, Australia's Network Ten, among the top five U.S. series in Germany and Italy, and is a top five show on Canada's Global.

In March, CBS rewarded Elementary with an early renewal, along with a slew of other shows.

Elementary airs its two-hour finale at 9 p.m. May 16 on CBS.
