‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Will Meredith and the Baby Survive? (Exclusive Video)

A massive storm is on its way to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and Owen is readying the troops with news that doesn't go over well with everyone.

In an exclusive look at Thursday's penultimate season nine episode, fittingly titled "Readiness is All," Owen (Kevin McKidd) warns his staff that the storm will bring with it scores of casualties and instructs surgeons to push, postpone or cancel all elective procedures until after the storm.

Expecting mother Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) -- who is three weeks from her due date -- doesn't love the idea that she's going to have to scale back her work commitments. In an apparent rush to finish up in the OR, Mer takes a very scary tumble down the stairs that sends her heart racing.

"Meredith is basically giving birth in the last-worst situation you'd want to be giving birth," Grey's Anatomy showrunner Shonda Rhimes tells The Hollywood Reporter. "It's going to be not so pleasant for her. Ellen did really beautiful work and the story we told is really charged, interesting and strong. It's the last way you'd want anybody to ever have to have a baby and that's Meredith Grey. Things obviously don't come easy for Meredith Grey. Derek (Patrick Dempsey) possibly, maybe will be around (laughs)."
