Khloe Kardashian: Being Compared To Kim and Kourtney Can “Beat Up” My “Soul”

(Cosmopolitan UK)

Khloe Kardashian opens up about her struggles with body image, having Kris Jenner as a “momager,” and welcoming Kanye West into her family in the June issue of Cosmopolitan UK.

The reality star confesses being compared to her sisters can take its toll on her emotionally, but says she’s become a more confident woman because of it.

“I’ve always known that I’m not Kim and I’m not Kourtney — I’ve always been OK with that,” Kardashian says, before admitting, ”I probably thought I was prettier before I entered the spotlight because being compared to somebody else every day does sort of beat up your spirit and soul. But it’s made me stronger.”

Kardashian explains that she “gained a lot of weight” after her father died when she was 19, and when she “was in the spotlight, I was quickly criticised for not being a cookie-cutter sister like Kourtney and Kim.”

“I want to say I don’t care, but of course [comments about my body] are going to sting,” says the starlet, but she’s also realized that “I have to do whatever is good for  me… I feel that I’m healthier [now], but I don’t think I’m prettier thinner.”

The constant pressure and “public bullying” has made Kardashian ”understand why so many people in this industry have eating disorders or want plastic surgery.”

“I’m proud I’ve done things the healthy way and haven’t felt bullied into having my face operated on,” she says, “I’m not against it. When I’m older, you never know.”

Kardashian — who reveals she likes to cook for husband Lamar Odom while naked — says since finding out she has fertility issues, she isn’t preoccupied with having a baby immediately, contrary to persistent rumors.

“I just wanted to be, ‘Hey, let’s have a baby,’ and we would just have one. Kourtney did. And I wish that was the way for me. But it won’t be,” laments the 28-year-old.

She adds, “I’ll have to take hormones. I do want to have a baby, but I don’t feel the urgency to have one this very moment.”

When she does have kids, Kardashian says she won’t be a “momanger” like her own mother, Kris Jenner, whom she sometimes feels “sorry for” when the girls “gang up” on her.

But she also admits that sometimes Jenner’s advice can be “hurtful,” such as when she’s told to lose weight for a brand appearance.

“Kim is definitely her favorite. It doesn’t bother me,” says Kardashian. “They’re so similar they could be the same person.”

And apparently Kim’s baby daddy West is, too, “knowing how to deal” with her “really well.”

“Because we’ve known him for so long, he’ll come to us if he wants advice on a  birthday present or something. I like that,” Kardashian says, adding, “Kris [Humphries] wouldn’t even talk to us.”

“I love that with Kanye we have that friendship. Because when you’re with one of us you’re with all of us,” she says.

Kardashian’s full interview hits newsstands May 2.
