Joey Graceffa and Meghan Camarena escaped elimination once -- due to Chuck and Wynona McCall's failure to follow a clue properly in a previous leg -- but they weren't so lucky in Sunday night's episode of The Amazing Race.
The double U-turn in Scotland resulted in two of the remaining five teams battling it out for the fourth spot: Joey and Meghan and their alliance mates, "roller-derby moms" Mona Egender and Beth Bandimere.

On Monday, the eliminated YouTube hosts talked to The Hollywood Reporter about their time on the race, getting a second chance and whether they'd do it again.
The Hollywood Reporter: When did you realize you were going to be last?
Joey: We thought before the haggis there was possibly a team behind us, but once we got to the haggis, it was just us and Mona and Beth. They finished before us, and with the U-turn, and us finishing that last, we kind of had a feeling.
Meghan: We had a glimmer of hope that something might have happened. We were holding out hope until Phil [Keoghan] told us we were eliminated.
Joey: I was crying up to the mat; I knew it deep down.
THR: The first time you were eliminated -- but saved due to Chuck and Wynona's error -- you were really emotional, Meghan. But this time, Joey seemed like the more emotional one.
Meghan: When we were in Switzerland, after running miles uphill in the snow and giving our all, and then seeing Chuck and Wynona [on the mat], it was so disappointing. This time, I just wanted to wait until we got there. It's not over until it's over. But believe me, tears were shed. Once Phil told us [we were eliminated], my heart broke inside. It felt unreal. Like "Phil, are you serious?"
THR: What was going through your minds the first time you found out you hadn't actually been eliminated?
Joey: It was total relief. We were so excited we got to continue on. It definitely sparked a fire in us, and we worked really hard. We got second place in Germany [the previous leg].
Meghan: It felt like we had a second chance at really giving it our all. It was more fun this time around. You never know when it's over, it's so unpredictable. That was our attitude.
THR: What went wrong at the airport? Both you and Mona/Beth thought you were on the first flight out, but in fact landed more than two hours after the other three teams.
Joey: Max and Katie were smart to stay at the hotel and do some research. We got super amped-up and wanted to get to the airport as soon as possible because we thought there might be a flight leaving. We didn't take the time to stop and look at a computer as we had done in the past legs. This time, it kind of felt like the airport might have a computer, but everything was closed when we got there. So we went to the earliest-opening airline, which I guess we thought was connected to everything, and it wasn't.
Meghan: That was our mistake, not being more thorough. Our state of mind was probably not the best at that point. It was early in the morning. We got the last available tickets on the flight and thought everyone else was leaving three hours after us.
Joey: All the teams were in line with us, and we thought, oh this is great. They're leaving three hours later, we don't have to do any more research. But by this time we were 21 days in the race and we were exhausted.

THR: At the point you were eliminated, is it safe to say you were rooting for Mona and Beth to win over the other three teams?
Joey: All the other teams were jerks, and everyone was against us the whole time. We were so lonely on the race. We were lucky to have Mona and Beth there to support us; they were our "race moms."
Meghan: They were seriously our support system, and we were been cheering for them. We told everyone they have to keep watching [to support] the derby moms.
THR: What was the best thing about being on the race?
Joey: Just the adventure of not knowing what was next and going to different countries and experiencing the culture.
Meghan: We watch a lot of movies, and it felt like Joey and I were in our own little adventure.
Joey: There were a lot of bad times but it was definitely good overall. It was an amazing experience, and I'd love to do it again.
Meghan: The memories we have and experiences we shared together, it was once in a lifetime. I'd do it again.
