Vince Vaughn returned to host Saturday Night Live for the first time since 1998, but wasn’t given much to do.
There was an odd sketch where he played a pervy rich man who donated money to a junior high prom so he could cruise for underage boys. A “last call” sketch saw him awkwardly share bodily fluids with Kate McKinnon. And his opening monologue was part celebration of the audience, part motivational speaking class.

In one of the funnier efforts of the nights, a prerecorded segment promoted an HBO series starring Al Pacino (Bill Hader) as different accused killers each week. The actor plays Michael Jackson physician Dr. Conrad Murry in black face and seems to have something offensive to say for each role.
Amanda Knox: “I may be a sex maniac, but I ain’t no murderer.”
The Menendez Brothers: “This trial is loco man.”
Oscar Pistorius: “Say hello to my little legs,” (holding up his prosthetics).
On Weekend Update, Brad Paisley (Sudeikis) and LL Cool J (Kenan Thompson) dropped by to defend “Accidental Racist,” the song ostensibly about racial harmony but which has received its fair share of criticism.
But both declared the song had “ended racism.”
The pair made it clear they hadn’t thought things through, admitting they probably should have had at least one person listen to the song before they released it.

In its cold open, SNL skewered this week’s big gun control news—the proposed bipartisan compromise which in real life would expand background checks on guns purchased at trade shows, but would also prohibit a national list of gun owners.
SNL mocked the plan as ineffectual, with President Obama (Jay Pharoah) introducing Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (Jason Sudeikis) and Republican Sen. Patrick J. Toomey (Bill Hader) as two men who will undoubtedly lose their jobs for trying to come together on the issue.
The compromising senators went on to tout their plan in a list that ended up being a catalogue their failures
Toomey said no one can buy handgun unless asked “are you a good person?” He added the plan would limit the number of guns one can shoot at one time to two, though oddly enough the penalty for shooting three guns at once is a free, fourth gun. But on the plus side, the compromise banned AK-47s from coin-operated vending machines, though none of the restrictions applied in Florida.
SNL is next new May 4 with Zach Galifianakis tapped for his third time. He will be joined by musical guest Of Monsters and Men.
