TNT Goes Country With ‘Nashville Confidential’ Docuseries

TNT is going country.

The cable network has ordered eight episodes of Nashville Confidential, a docuseries poised to go behind the scenes on the Country Music Capital of the World.

From Evolution Media -- the producers of The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills -- the docudrama is set in and around the country music business in Nashville, Tenn., and offers a glimpse behind the scenes of the competitive industry and the power couples who comprise it.

Evolution's Douglas Ross, Greg Stewart and Alex Baskin will executive produce the entry, which will premiere in early 2014.

The pickup comes as ABC has found critical success and a recent ratings uptick with scripted drama Nashville, which stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere as famed country singers and the personal and professional politics of Nashville.

For TNT, the series becomes the latest unscripted pickup, joining Donnie Wahlberg's Boston's Finest, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's The Hero, 72 Hours and Cold Justice, among others, as the network looks to bolster its original programming year-round.
