‘Mistresses’ Actress to Play Pebbles in TLC Biopic (Exclusive)

VH1 has found its Pebbles.

Mistresses actress Rochelle Aytes will portray the singer-rapper in the cable network's biopic based on TLC, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

Based on the 1990s all-girl trio, Crazy, Sexy Cool: The TLC Story will chronicle the group's rise to fame, personal struggles and financial woes. Aytes will play Peri "Pebbles" Reid in the TV movie, opposite Keke Palmer (Chilli) and Lil Mama (Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes) and Drew Sidora (Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins). Carl Payne (Martin) will portray L.A. Reid.

Aytes will play Pebbles, the R&B star and head of Pebatone, the management and production company that eventually side the group who is described as a relentless task-master who is jealous of Chilli's attention on songwriter Dallas (Evan Ross).

Charles Stone III (Drumline) will direct the pic, based on a script penned by Kate Lanier (What's Love Got to do With It). TLC's Chilli and T-Boz will serve as executive producers and consultants alongside EPs Maggie Malina, Alex Motlagh and Bill Diggins.

Aytes stars on ABC's summer soap Mistresses, which bows May 27. Her credits include Work It, The Forgotten and Desperate Housewives. He's repped by Innovative and Zero Gravity Management.
