‘90210’s’ Matt Lanter to Co-Star in CW’s ‘Oxygen’

That was fast.

Less than a week after the CW announced 90210 would end its five-season run in May, co-star Matt Lanter has boarded the network's sci-fi drama pilot Oxygen, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Oxygen revolves around the romance that ignites between Emery, a human girl (Friday Night Lights' Aimee Teegarden) and Roman, an alien boy, when he and eight others of his kind (The Orion 9) are integrated into a suburban high school 10 years after they and hundreds of others landed on Earth and were immediately consigned to an internment camp where they’ve been imprisoned ever since.

Lanter will play Roman, the member of the Orion 9 integrated into a suburban high school who falls in love with Emery after he befriends her while escaping authorities 10 years prior.

The Good Wife's Meredith Averill will pen the pilot and executive produce alongside Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Scott Rosenberg, Richard Shepard, Bryan Furst, Sean Furst and Daniel Gutman. Gary Fleder will direct the pilot for CBS Television Studios, Ole Productions, Isla de Sabel and 360 Powwow.

Titus Makin Jr., Malese Jow and Friday Night Lights' Grey Damon co-star. 

Lanter has played Liam since first recurring on the first season of the CW's Beverly Hills, 90210, update. He also voices several roles in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, including Anakin Skywalker, as well as roles in Ultimate Spider-Man. His credits include Commander in Chief and features Disaster Movie, Sorority Row and The Roommate. Lanter is repped by WME, Emerald Talent Group and Stone Meyer.
