It was a big night for American Idol champions, as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks all nabbed awards at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday night.
Clarkson won Best Pop album for her fifth studio full-length record, Stronger. Clarkson bested nominees Maroon 5, Pink, Florence and the Machine, and FUN. This is the second win in the Best Pop Album category for Clarkson, who previously took home an award for her second full-length record, Breakaway.

The season one winner, who accepted her statute from current Idol judge Keith Urban, has covered songs by almost everyone in the category on her recent live tour, a point referenced by the Texas native in her acceptance speech.
“FUN. I have been covering you all summer,” said the pop star, who performed a show-stopping version of “We Are Young” last year. “I’m sorry, I love that song."
Clarkson took the time to complement other Grammy nominated artists, like Miguel Pimenal, who was up against her for his song, “Adorn” in the Song of the Year category.
“Miguel, I don’t know who the hell you are but we need to sing together,” she said. "I mean, good God that was the sexiest thing I ever seen."
The Idol winning streak continued with Underwood, scoring a win for “Blown Away” in the Best Country Solo Performance.

“Country music has always been so good to me,” said the season four winner, who gave a nod to Idol with a thank you to producer Simon Fuller in her speech. “"I thank the good Lord that I am a part of such a wonderful, talented, amazing family. There's a lot of people to be thankful for ... the fans who have been coming out and supporting us: you guys are the reason we get to do what we do. My family, my amazing, my perfect husband. Glory to God! Thank you so much."
Hicks had the honor of being the first male Idol to win a Grammy for his participation on Jimmy Fallon’s CD, “Blow Your Pants Off” in the Best Comedy Album category. Hicks is a featured artist on the CD along with Stephen Colbert for the parody of “Friday” by Rebecca Black.
In addition to the Idol wins, Clarkson and Underwood were centerpiece performers on the Grammy stage. Clarkson paid tribute to Lifetime Achievement Award winners Patti Page and Carole King with a rendition of, “Tennessee Waltz,” and a re-creation of her iconic Idol performance of the Aretha Franklin classic, “Natural Woman."
Underwood was stunning in a Theia couture platinum ball gown, which provided a light show projecting images of flowers and butterflies projected against the dress as she sang her hit, “Blown Away."
