Making good on its two-year deal with Katie Couric, Disney-ABC Domestic Television announced Wednesday that her syndicated daytime talk show has been renewed on its existing stations for a second season.

"Hosting, producing and launching a show from scratch has been challenging but very rewarding," said Couric. "I'm looking forward to working with our terrific team to build on the success of our first season and continuing to share compelling stories, explore important topics, and create entertaining television for our audience."

The news comes on the heels of an exceptionally successful launch for Katie, which entered the market during a fall crowded with other launches. Katie outperformed new offerings from Steve Harvey, Ricki Lake, Trisha Goddard and Jeff Probst and recently logging its 19th straight week on top.

Katie is currently number six in households compared to all talk shows with a 1.9 rating and 2.5 million viewers.

The host recently scored a small coup, booking the first on-camera interview with Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o. The episode gave Katie its largest ratings since the series opener.

Katie is the number one new syndicated talk show of the 2012-2013 season and we are thrilled to announce a green light for season two,” said Disney-ABC Domestic Television President Janice Marinelli. “Katie is an immensely talented host who has an incomparable ability to connect with her viewers.  We also have outstanding station partners and time periods and look forward to continued success with ‘Katie’ this year and into season two.”
