It took 13 years, but Chad Lowe got his thank you.

When she accepted the Golden Globe for best television series comedy, Dunham said on stage, "I also promised myself if I ever got this chance, I would thank Chad Lowe. I'm sorry, I just promised and I promised my mom."

Rewind for a moment. In August Dunham tweeted that she forgot to mention Alex Karpovsky in a video she made for the New Yorker, comparing it to when Lowe's then-wife Hilary Swank forgot to thank him during an Oscar acceptance speech in 2000. Lowe took notice and sent a response, tweeting, "What would make that whole Oscars debacle better is if you wrote for me... (I'm a big fan) Keep up the great work!"

Dunham volleyed back, replying, "What a day-maker you are! FYI I will probably mention you if I ever receive any award at all in my lifetime (and I too am a fan.)"

Now, fast forward back to Sunday night. Dunham accepted the award for best actress in a comedy earlier in the evening, and pulled a Swank herself, failing to mention Lowe. He did not take the slight lightly.

"Congrats to @lenadunham on your Golden Globe win. But, seriously? You forget to thank me?! After all we've been through? I'm shocked," he wrote on Twitter -- presumably in jest.

Once she corrected her terrible mistake, he rejoiced, writing, "Dearest @lenadunham YOU COMPLETE ME," to which she replied, "Mutual. It was time."
