Gabrielle Giffords is heading to ABC World News this week. The network announced Sunday that the former congresswoman will once again be interviewed by Diane Saywer, the only journalist she's spoken with on camera since a gunshot wound to the head almost took her life in 2011.
The interview with Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly will air during the Tuesday, Jan. 8, broadcast of World News -- two years to the day after a shooting in a Tuscon, Arizona, Safeway parking lot killed six and wounded 12, including the representative.

Giffords and Kelly will speak with Sawyer about a new initiative they're launching, and their interview will also be featured on fellow ABC News properties Good Morning America, Nightline, ABCNews.com and local affiliates.
Spreading out the new footage comes as little surprise, as Giffords' appearances have been few during her long recovery from the shooting. Since her November 2011 appearance on ABC's 20/20, she's only spoken publicly at the Democratic National Convention where she recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Giffords and Kelly's appearance comes just a few weeks after the shooting in Newtown, Conn. Kelly addressed the tragedy on his and Giffords' Facebook page, where he urged legislation on gun control. Giffords met with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to discuss gun control last week before heading to Newtown to meet with families of the victims.
