A&E is turning its lens on former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards.
The cable network on Friday announced The Governor's Wife, a 12-episode docuseries following the 85-year-old "King of Louisiana" and his 34-year-old wife and their children.

Launching Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 10 p.m., the effort will revolve around Edwards and his wife, Trina Grimes Scott, who first became pen pals while he was serving an eight-and-a-half-year prison term for bribery and extortion charges incurred during his tenure as governor of Louisiana. The couple -- who wed following his release -- first met when she began writing to the convicted ex-governor, have four children from previous marriages, ranging in age from 62 to 13.
The entry will follow Trina as she attempts to fit into the former governor's world and social life while trying to get along with his daughters -- who are twice her age -- as she juggles her two teenage sons.

The series hails from Leftfield Pictures (Pawn Stars) and SSS Entertainment. Leftfield's Brent Montgomery, David George, Dominick Pupa and Shaun Sanghani will oversee, while A&E's David McKillop, Elaine Frontain Bryant, Drew Tappon and Devon Graham.
Governor's Wife joins A&E's unscripted slate that includes Duck Dynasty, Hoarders, Intervention and the upcoming Be the Boss.
