The salacious dealings inside the studios of the fictional reality TV competition Project Icon will hit stores next month with the release of Elimination Night, a thinly-veiled, scathing tell-all of the tenth season of a top-ranked talent show -- yes, that would be American Idol.
The book publishers have now issued a juicy online trailer teasing that the tome -- which has fictional judges obviously based on Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler -- will be "deliciously outrageous."
"I never thought I would have found myself in showbiz, but there I was helping produce Project Icon," intones the voice of the book’s author, "Anonymous," who talks from the shadows about "dealing with these people on a daily basis."

The "people" -- made of clay in the promo -- includes Lopez doppelganger "Bibi Vasquez" and her "not-so-sincere melodrama," Tyler dead-ringer "Joey Lovecraft" and his "extracurricular activities" and Ryan Seacrest-esque host "Wayne Shoreline" as an "android" with "passive-aggressive smugness."
"The problem was, our audience didn’t find it quite as entertaining," says the secret author. "My job was to keep the whole thing from getting canceled … easier said than done."
Billed as a "satire in the vein of The Devil Wears Prada," Elimination Night is a 281-page work of fiction telling the story of a young woman who's privy to the behind-the-scenes insanity of a hit series. The only clue revealing the true identity of "Anonymous" is he or she had actual, real-life dealings behind the scenes in the reality show world.
