The Project Runway spotlight shines on Marchesa this week.
Lifetime is debuting a special on the fashion house, co-founded by Project Runway: All Stars judge Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, at 10 p.m. Thursday, following a new episode of All Stars.

The half-hour documentary will follow the rise of the label, which dresses A-listers for various red carpets and awards shows, and aims to give an insider's look as the designers create gowns for those stars. It also will feature interviews with Halle Berry, Eva Longoria and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
Chapman told reporters in a conference call that viewers will get a look at the inner workings of Marchesa and go behind the scenes of some of its events.
"There are people talking about the dresses, actresses who’ve worn the dresses, editors talking about Marchesa," she said. "You get a glimpse inside of our shows. You get a glimpse inside of a charity show we did. Then you get a glimpse inside an award season and the process behind the making of a dress."
She joked that having the cameras around all the time made her feel like a Project Runway contestant.
"I have a lot more sympathy," she said. "It’s like they see your time and you’re working. They get to see a lot because you become unaware that they’re there after awhile. It’s interesting when I watch it because I was getting an outside perspective on what goes on. "
Asked if she thinks the one-off might evolve into a series down the road, Chapman demurs.
"I just hope my life wouldn’t be that dramatic," she quips. "I like to think that I’m too boring for that. I can do without the drama."

Chapman is married to Harvey Weinstein, whose company The Weinstein Co. is among the producers of the Project Runway franchise. So what role did he play in the documentary special?
"He doesn’t have much of a role when it comes to fashion," Chapman joked.
Meanwhile, Chapman also weighed in on the current season of Project Runway: All Stars, revealing that some of her favorite judges have included 16-year-old fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson, Diane von Furstenberg, Katie Holmes, Kylie Minogue and her "great friend," designer Rachel Roy.
As for her favorite challenge, Chapman cited last week's unconventional challenge, which tasked the designers with using materials from a Christmas store to create a non-holiday red carpet look.
"I like those unconventional challenges because they always come up with surprising things and people have to push themselves to be at their most creative," she said.
Chapman says she's probably watched every season of Project Runway and was both "incredibly flattered" and "very excited" when asked to be a judge on All Stars. She revealed that the runway shows and judging process take an entire day to shoot and that the judges -- Carolyn Murphy and Isaac Mizrahi also are on the All Stars panel -- take their decision very seriously.
"We really do talk about it in depth. ... We do really care about our designers," she said. "We form quite a bond with them and we feel very responsible. It’s not a flippant decision. It can be very hard sometimes. So we give it the time that it needs."

Marchesa, meanwhile, was one of several labels that recently designed items for the affordable, limited-edition Target + Neiman Marcus holiday collection, contributing two girls' dresses. Chapman said she'd love to see Marchesa expand and do full children's line, but it's not likely anytime in the near future.
Chapman, who is expecting her second child with Weinstein, also was asked whether she had any advice for another expectant mother: Kate Middleton.
"I think it depends on your body type," she said. "Your body changes so much and everybody changes differently. So it really is a very personal thing and I think you just have to go with what you're comfortable with. You have to embrace it. You enjoy it. It’s a few months of your life and it’s a special time of your life so I think just enjoy."
