‘Homeland’ Finale Includes Extra Disclaimer Following Connecticut Shooting

Homeland TV Still Claire Danes Table - H 2012

Showtime

On the same night President Barack Obama mourned the victims during a Newtown vigil, Showtime's Homeland informed its viewers of the show's content that awaited them.

"In light of the tragedy that has occurred in Connecticut, the following program contains images that may be disturbing," the extra warning read ahead of Sunday's intense season two finale. "Viewer discretion in advised."

Homeland follows CIA officer Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) who learns that Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), a U.S. Marine sergeant who was deemed missing who could have been turned by al-Qaeda, was the prisoner of war her contact was alluding to.

A synopsis for the finale, titled "The Choice," is as follows: "Carrie is faced with a pivotal decision, while Brody meets with Faber to contemplate the future of the family. Meanwhile, Saul undertakes a secret assignment; and Quinn has a decision to make that may prove to be a game-changer."

This comes after movie studios and networks -- both cable and broadcast -- modified plans following Friday's Newtown shooting that left 28 dead, including the gunman.

Paramount delayed Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher premiere in Pittsburgh, while Fox canceled a Parental Guidance post-screening party. Fox pulled several originals from its Sunday night animated block and Syfy on Friday opted not to air a new episode of Haven as it centered on violence at a high school. Saturday Night Live opened its Christmas episode with a children's choir singing "Silent Night."
