Viewers of NBC’s “Michael Bublé: Home for the Holidays” special on Monday saw an awkwardly timed cameo appearance… by Elmo.

The “Sesame Street” mainstay joined the Canadian crooner for a song on the same day puppeteer Kevin Clash faced new allegations from a fourth sexual abuse accuser.

While Clash’s appearance as Elmo was pre-taped, some observers have wondered if it was a wise to include the character given the cloud currently surrounding Clash, who eventually resigned amid the growing scandal.

But Bublé says he did not consider editing out the bit.

“There was never a discussion to lose him,” the singer is quoted as saying to Xfinity. “The truth is, Elmo didn’t do anything. He’s a three-year-old monster. He’s innocent, sweet, and funny — and very polite, too… The deal is that Elmo is featured on my special, and that’s kind of how I really feel about it.”
