The Colbert Report has upped two writers, Comedy Central announced Monday.

Barry Julien, the series' supervising producer since 2011 and head writer since 2009, will now serve as co-executive producer. Writer Opus Moreschi has been upped to the open head writer position.

"Barry Julien and Opus Moreschi are tireless, visionary producers and incredibly talented writers," said EP, writer and host Stephen Colbert. "For instance they wrote this sentence."

Julien's work on Colbert, which dates back to his joining the series as a writer in 2007, has earned him three Writer’s Guild Awards and two primetime Emmys for outstanding writing for a variety, music or comedy program. He will continue to write for the series in his new position.

Moreschi, a veteran of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, has been a writer on the show since 2008. He's won two WGA Awards and an Emmy.
