TV Ratings: ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Finale Hits Season High, Still Shy of Last Year

ABC scored its first Tuesday win of the season with a resurgent Dancing With the Stars finale. The end of the All-Stars season, which crowned Melissa Rycroft winner, pulled a 3.0 rating among adults 18-49. That's a 33 percent boost from last week's results show -- but 27 percent shy of the same finale this time last year (4.1 adults) and six percent shy of the spring finale (3.2 adults). The network led into the festivities with two holiday specials, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2.4 adults) and Shrek the Halls (2.5 adults), both down four percent from airings last year. ABC averaged a 2.9 rating with adults 18-49 and 13.8 million viewers.

Edging past ABC in total viewers with 14.4 million for the night was CBS. The network also averaged a close 2.8 rating with adults 18-49. And while NCIS (3.5 adults rating) and NCIS LA (2.9 adults rating) were both up from last week, 17 and four percent respectively, Vegas was down 11 percent to tie its low of a 1.6 rating with adults 18-49.

The Voice topped the night among individual broadcasts, jumping 12 percent from last week to a 3.8 rating among adults 18-49. Go On was also up, 19 percent, for a 2.5 rating in the demo. The New Normal grew 13 percent for a 1.7 rating with 18-49-ers, while Parenthood was up a tenth of a point for a 1.8 adults rating. NBC averaged a 2.5 rating with 18-49-ers and 7 million viewers.

Fox comedies saw boosts across the board. Raising Hope (1.7 adults) was up 13 percent, while Ben and Kate (1.4 adults) surged 27 percent. New Girl (2.3 adults) and The Mindy Project (1.5 adults) were also both up 15 percent. The network pulled a 1.7 adults rating and 3.4 million viewers for the night.

Hart of Dixie was even with last week's 0.5 adults rating on The CW, while Emily Owens MD dropped 25 percent to a 0.3 in the demo. The network averaged a 0.4 adults rating and 1.2 million viewers.
