BOX OFFICEThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 will easily win the weekend box office, building off a huge first night that’s put the franchise capper on pace for approximately $135 million in North America.
That figure would have the last installment of the series within striking distance of the openings for The Twilight Saga: New Moon ($142.8 million) and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 ($138.1 million).
Last week’s champ, the James Bond flick Skyfall, should have a strong second-place showing of $38 million.
Lincoln expands to wide release this week, with Steven Spielberg’s presidential biopic tussling with the animated Wreck-It Ralph for the #3 spot.
Both films are estimated to hit about $18 million.
Flight, starring Denzel Washington, should follow in fifth place at $8.5 million.
The hostage thriller Argo is expected to earn about $4 million, ahead of Liam Neeson’s kidnapping hit Taken 2 ($2.2 million).
Pitch Perfect and Here Comes The Boom are neck-in-neck for eighth place, with both movies on pace for about $1.2 million.
The Top Ten could round out with a surprise: Indian Bollywood import Jab Tak Hai Jaan is looking at a $1.1 million weekend.
