David Letterman Mocks Guy Fieri in ‘Late Show’ Top 10 (Video)

David Letterman knows how to kick a man when he's down. Guy Fieri was likely still reeling from receiving a (very) negative New York Times review for his Times Square resturant, when he became the subject of a Late Show top 10 list Wednesday night.

Inspired by the scathing review critic Pete Wells gave Fieri's American Kitchen & Bar, Letterman dedicated his top 10 to “discontinued Guy Fieri menu items.”

Highlights included “inappropriately rubbed brisket,” “jumbo shrimp tattooed and pierced” and “suspiciously damp toast.”

Fieri, the host of Food Network's Diners, Drive-Thrus and Dives, issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter after Wells’ review lit up the blogosphere Wednesday.

"I normally do not respond to reviews or critics, however, given the tone of Pete’s piece, it’s clear to me that he went into my restaurant with his mind already made up," Fieri said. "That’s unfortunate. I take comments from patrons, fans and visitors very seriously, and if there is ever a problem with our service, I’ll fix it."

In the review that sparked it all, Wells asked if Fieri really liked the “unfancy” food he celebrates on his show: “When you cruise around the country for your show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, rasping out slangy odes to the unfancy places where Americans like to get down and greasy, do you really mean it? Or is it all an act? Is that why the kind of cooking you celebrate on television is treated with so little respect at Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar?"
