NBC is supersizing the final two installments of The Voice and using the increased eyeballs as a way to help sample midseason comedy 1600 Penn.

The network on Friday announced that the third season of The Voice will air a supersized final performance episode on Monday, Dec. 17 from 8-9:30 p.m.

The two-hour season three finale of The Voice will air the following day from 9-11 p.m.

Following the 90-minute installment of The Voice, NBC will sample the premiere for midseason White House comedy 1600 Penn, starring Book of Mormon's Josh Gad and Bill Pullman at 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 17, less than a month before the freshman entry launches in its regular day and time on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 9:30 p.m.

The news comes after NBC aired a special episode of The Voice on a more competitive Thursday night, drawing 9.1 million viewers and a 3.0 rating among 18-49ers, tying its lowest telecast to date (but still ranking second behind CBS at 8 p.m.)
