VIDEOShawn Johnson and Derek Hough received a standing ovation from one “Dancing with the Stars” judge on Tuesday — before a massive argument broke out among the panel.
The pairs’ Titanic-inspired routine blew away Bruno Tonioli, who gave the ovation and said they were “absolutely stunning.”
“I was with you every minute of it, emotionally connected like I’ve never seen you before,” he told them.
Carrie Ann Inaba was almost equally amazed, telling Johnson, “You expressed incredible maturity, passion and vulnerability.”
Inaba noted only that she would penalize them for doing a lift during a rumba — but Len Goodman wasn’t having it.
He explained the dance fell far below his expectations, leading to protests from both Inaba and Tonioli, who seemed dumbfounded.
“I’ve got my standards, you’ve got your standards,” Goodman insisted to them over a chorus of boos.
In the end, Goodman rated Johnson and Hough an 8, while Inaba gave a 9 and Tonioli a 10 for a total of 27.
The panel went on to clash again during Apolo Ohno and Karina Smirnoff’s samaba.
