Syfy's Defiance has cast a sci-fi grad.
Stargate Universe star Brian J. Smith, who also appeared in The CW's Gossip Girland TV movie Red Faction, will guest star in one episode of the upcoming drama, slated for an April 2013 launch.
Defiance centers on a transformed Earth, inhabited by the survivors of a universal war. Forced to co-habitate, the group struggles to build a new society among the devastation.
Smith will play Gordon McClintock, a NASA hero from the pre-Arkfall days who was presumed dead following a space station catastrophe. He is discovered to be alive when he is revived from an induced sleep and is overcome with shock and disbelief at the new world.
Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran, Jaime Murray, Graham Greene and Mia Kirshner star in the Universal Cable Productions production. Kevin Murphy and Michael Taylor serve as executive producers, Scott Stewart directed the pilot and Michael Nankin is supervising producer/director.
A game will also debut alongside the series next year.
