Rick Santorum Joins Mike Huckabee’s Chick-Fil-A Campaign

What's the former Senator up to, post-presidential run? Chicken activism.

Rick Santorum announced on Twitter today that he's joining the campaign in support of fast-food chain Chick-Fil-A started by former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.

"I’m joining @GovMikeHuckabee to support @ChickFilA Aug 1. Stand w us!" Santorum tweeted.

The two failed presidential candidates are joining together to promote "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day" on August 1st.

Huckabee launched his efforts in support of the chain after writing that he was "incensed" by attacks on Chick-Fil-A following its president's acknowledgement that the company opposes gay marriage rights in an interview with The Baptist Press.

The Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day Facebook page so far has over 114,000 members; on the other side of the ledger, the Jim Henson Company withdrew its toys from the chain's kids' meals, Boston mayor Thomas Menino to declare their sandwiches unwelcome in his city, and a Chicago alderman moved to block a Chick-Fil-A from opening in his district using something called "aldermanic privilege" (really).
